Bamboo 8

(1 customer review)

The frame is Source Cycles signature bamboo frame spaced to accommodate an internally-geared hub.  This bike offers both quick handling for city streets, but a comfortable ride that will keep you happily riding for hours at a time.

A CroMo steel fork provides stiff handling.  Hand built 700c wheels feature H+Son's enduring TB14 rims laced to a durable Shimano XT front hub and the beautifully efficient Shimano Alfine 8 internally-geared rear hub.

A complete aluminum alloy component package keeps weight down to a minimum.

With the gear to go explore you're ready to expand your horizons.

First, this bike is a thing of beauty, patiently built by people who love bikes. Then you get on it and fly.

My wife and I have been sharing it since late 2014. A few hundred km later it still feels solid – no concerns about durability. It does not flex noticeably but the bamboo frame has a nice dampening quality that makes riding city streets more enjoyable.

Of course it does everything you need a bike to do very well. In addition to handling, you can tell that the builders care a lot about quality and look and feel.

The Alfine hub works well and has plenty of range for my needs. It is a little heavier than a derailleur but so clean and easy!

What is also fun is when someone asks about the bamboo frame, reminding me I’m riding something pretty unique! Labor of love frame with quality components make this bike good value for money in my eyes.
